Bourgeois, III, of BoyarMiller. The members of the Texas Global Business Network (TGBN) met recently with representatives of the United Kingdom Trade & Investment (UKTI) at the British Consulate in downtown Houston, to exchange thoughts on the current business climate for UK businesses operating, or planning to begin operations, in Houston.

UKTI representatives from several industries, including life sciences (biotech, agri-tech, food, drink), retail, energy, engineering, and manufacturing, were on hand for the meeting, and productive discussions quickly ensued.  A number of challenges currently facing these businesses were noted, and ways of working together to assist these businesses were explored.

The group also discussed the recent increase in interest from US businesses in doing business in the UK, and shared ideas on how to streamline and facilitate the process for those companies.

The meeting concluded on a high note, with several connections being made for both local and UK businesses, and opportunities for several more being discussed.
